GYROKINESIS®

Gyrokinesis® was developed by Juliu Horvath. Incorporating key principles from yoga, dance, gymnastics, and tai chi, Gyrokinesis®? works the entire body through seven natural elements of spinal movement: forward, backward, left side, right side, left twist, right twist, and circular, as well as all joint articulations. This method systematically and gently works the joints and muscles through fluid, rhythmic and undulating exercises. Performed seated on low stools, Gyrokinesis? movements mobilize the spine through a series of arching, curling, bending, twisting and spiraling movements. The same movement patterns also work the hip, knee, and other joints. Breathing patterns are also incorporated into every movement. Gyrokinesis®? invigorates and re-educates the body to move with fluidity, relaxation and power.

Gyrokinesis® can be mastered in a group class setting taught by our physical therapists (who are completing certification in April, 2008). There are only a few physical therapists are trained in this method in the U.S. You can be confident the exercises are both safe and effective - as long as you do not have osteoporosis or experience any pain with exercise or normal activities of daily living. If you do have pain, a physical therapy evaluation should be scheduled first.
